JROTC

  THE CAVALIER BATTALION

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a national leadership and citizenship development program. Albemarle County's new program, started in 2020, is open to Albemarle County high school students in 10th through 12th grade. Our extra-curricular activities (Raider Team, Color Guard and Team Building Activities) are available for all grades. It is hosted by Monticello High School and led by retired U.S. Army leaders that have been trained and certified to lead JROTC programs. Fundamentally, JROTC seeks to motivate high school students to become better citizens and to prepare them to be outstanding leaders in their communities. The Albemarle County program is a JROTC National Defense Cadet Corps pending full certification.
